Avelios scales Europe’s AI-native healthcare operating system with planned investment from NVIDIA

Just as NVIDIA provides the computing infrastructure powering the AI revolution, Avelios is building the software infrastructure to bring AI into everyday healthcare. NVIDIA’s planned investment will accelerate this vision, enabling deep integration of AI into hospital workflows with enterprise-grade security and European sovereignty.

Munich, 19 October 2026 – Avelios Medical, the Munich-based healthtech company, is building the AI-native operating system for European healthcare, backed by a planned investment from NVIDIA. The planned investment marks another major milestone in Avelios’ growth, accelerating its scale-up to bring enterprise-grade software to more hospitals. It also highlights Europe’s important role in the global AI race as a hub for secure, privacy-focused and responsibly regulated innovation.

Avelios believes the next generation of healthcare will not be defined by individual AI applications, but by the intelligent infrastructure connecting them. As increasingly powerful AI solutions emerge for documentation, diagnostics, clinical decision support, and hospital operations, the challenge is shifting from developing individual models to bringing them into practice in a way that actually changes how care is delivered.

From systems of record to systems of intelligence

Avelios is building the infrastructure to do exactly that. Rather than adding individual AI features onto legacy software, Avelios has rebuilt the core of hospital IT entirely from the ground up, combining structured clinical data, modular architecture, and treatment-oriented workflows in a unified system of record. This allows intelligence to become part of the care process itself – supporting doctors and nurses at the moment information is created, decisions are made and actions need to follow.

“AI will only fundamentally change healthcare when it becomes part of how care is actually delivered,” says Christian Albrecht, Co-Founder and CEO of Avelios Medical. “The breakthrough won’t come from putting another AI application next to the dozens of systems doctors and nurses already use. It will come from connecting intelligence with the data and workflows of the hospital itself. The planned investment in Avelios will help build and scale the infrastructure needed to bring this intelligence into everyday care.”

Building Europe’s healthcare infrastructure for the AI era

As AI becomes more deeply integrated into healthcare operations, the digital infrastructure connecting data, workflows and intelligent applications becomes increasingly critical.

Avelios is building this infrastructure in Europe and for European healthcare. Its architecture combines structured data and open interoperability with the requirements of European hospitals: data protection, regulatory compliance and digital sovereignty.

This ambition to build Europe’s healthcare infrastructure for the AI era is already backed by some of the continent’s leading technology and healthcare companies. Existing investors SAP and Fresenius bring complementary strengths: SAP brings leading technology and AI expertise in mission-critical processes, while Fresenius contributes deep healthcare expertise and extensive experience across clinical processes and healthcare delivery.

NVIDIA’s planned investment would help Avelios expand its operations and AI engineering teams as it brings its software to more European hospitals. Avelios plans to invest in testing and validation as it develops AI features for clinical workflows. Its goal is to reduce administrative work and support clinical decisions while keeping doctors and nurses in control of patient care.

“The question is no longer whether AI will become part of healthcare, but how it gets there. Europe has an opportunity to build the infrastructure for this transformation itself. We want to ensure that the next generation of AI doesn’t sit alongside healthcare but becomes part of how care is delivered – securely, sovereignly and at scale,” says Albrecht.

About Avelios Medical

With its modular, AI-native hospital information system, Avelios Medical is laying the foundation for the data-driven hospital of the future. Developed from the ground up around clinical requirements, the software reduces the documentation burden and simplifies clinical workflows. At its core is a structured data model that, for the first time, consistently enables interoperability and clinical intelligence. AI agents orchestrate processes, automate documentation and connect patient data along the entire patient journey – from admission to billing. The modern, cloud-native microservice architecture ensures scalability and flexibility at enterprise scale – while safeguarding European data sovereignty and regulatory compliance.

The company was founded in 2020 by Christian Albrecht, Nicolas Jakob and Dr. Sebastian Krammer.
